Daniel Gonzalez of the Arizona Republic wrote this article about day laborers in Phoenix. This article discusses day laborers (generally 'illegal immigrants' from Mexico) who are not getting paid by their employers or patrons. These unethical patrons hire a laborer for a day or so and at the end of it claim they have no money. Most laborers do not follow up with any authorities to claim their wages. However, regardless of immigration status they can make a claim with the Arizona Department of Labor or even make a police report. Wage theft is considered a crime in Arizona as well as in Kansas City, MO and Denver, CO.
I hope this article is helpful and raises awareness. Here is the link to it: www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0211wagetheft0211.html

Count Down...
The clock is ticking, the weeks are flying by quicly. I have about 8 weeks left. At this time, el bebe is 4 and half pounds. Its truly amazing that something is inside me, kicking, moving, and eating! I still look small but trust me I am growing and expanding.
In news from our friends and family in Argentina, there is alot of chaos with the farmers in a 3 month strike. From what I understand, Prime Minister Christina Kirchner wants to impose a huge import tax on the farmers. People are literally throwing out the milk in grocery stores in protest. The cost of food (meat, an important staple, an Argentine necessity) is rising dramatically. People take to the streets in protest by banging on pots and pans. There is a specific name for it which i will have to fill in later. People fear that Argentina is on the brink of a financial crisis seen back in 2o01.
I am definately thinking about everyone in Argentina and hoping that things turnaround.
